Re: Fix for dreaded micro outagesFact: DHCP can be turned off, though they often dont. They like to use it because they can dance the DNS info and such around as needed if one goes down etc etc..
Fact: Hard coding your information on a system is resort that we had used for systems that had socket or other OS related issues, as when someones Network properties and associated MS are corrupt.
Realization: Hard coding will do nothing for the normal, clean running pc.
More to consider: More Memory, say more then 64megs, DOES infact help the overall preformance, and for those people running Win95 especially, ensure you have sufficient swap file size. if your short on HD space, reclaim some of it and then try it out.
FACT: thats real info that people can use. |

I find it very hard to believe that hard setting the ip will stop the micro outages. When my Micro outages happen, the send just stops while the receive light keeps on going. |

Be a sport, post it.
It certainly seems related to limited upload bandwidth... When this occurs, If I'm DL'ing or playing a game online, incoming packets continue to hit the system, but nary a peep for outgoing... Related theories include timeslicing... |
