i thionk he's gonna keep directv name from what i recall of the press release. I am worried he might target cable operations like comcast though. Comcast has Comcast SportsNet which it refuses to share with satellite tv. If comcast goes up to mr murdoch and wants to renegotiate their contract with fox,fox news,fox sports nets,etc mr murdoch could say "well we'll give you a steep discount if you let us have access to your comcast sportsnet philadelphia channel." comcast could say "no way" then mr murdoch say "well pay us $5/sub for our channels no a la carte or don't get our channels since you wanna play hardball." thus cutting off fox to comcast systems. That's what worries me.

I don't think the shareholders would let him get away with shutting down their product to 1/3 of the cable universe just to get access to a channel that only reaches the Philadelphia region.

I would think that Comcast has hand in this situation (to use a Seinfeld phrase).

you know.. I never could understand why such a big stink is made over this.

anyone watch CSN? IMO, unless you (1)live in the Philly area, and (2)are a rabid Phillies, Flyers or 76ers fan, the channel is useless and is nothing but a medium for Comcast to push all their products.

Yes, I certainly can see why dish users would want a channel with at least 20 minutes of CN8/Comcast commercials run every hour during the philly sports team shows. </sarcasm>
