BA Cust Service

I ordered my Infospeed DSL through Bell-Atlantic's web page. I received the modem and filters within 3 days or so. They emailed me twice and in one of those emails it stated I would get a welcome letter.

The Web page didn't tell me when my set-up date was, so I assumed that would come with the welcome letter (along with an activation code as I read on one of the msg boards).

I didn't receive the letter by Jan 28th so I thought I'd call to find out the information. I told the first rep I ordered DSL but didn't get a welcome letter yet. She put me on hold for 5 minutes (I guess this was a hard question!). SHe gave me to a tech who said "I dont understand why you need the welcome letter. It only has how much you are being billed, your DSL phone #, the activation code and Feb 1st as your start date. I'm not sure I understand why you need this letter, do you want us to send it to you because I see that it wasn't sent to you?"

She did give me the activation code and start date on the phone, but she seemed to not have a clue why I would want this information.

Now, that's what I call totally untrained help. How she could be confused by my request will probably be answered after the question of the chicken or the egg.

Just my experience so far and I don't even have the service set up until tomorrow!!

that is typical bell atlantic DSL customer service. hopefully you won't run into anymore problems. saying that they are "untrained" would be an understatement.

good luck. when it works well it's worth it

Well, it's now almost 6pm on the 2nd. My modem still isnt syncing with the CO and the start date was 2/1.

I can't spend the time at work (still there) to call and be on hold for an hour so I have to wait until I get home, when the tech cant even call the CO because nobody is there.

The Welcome letter is for activation code, there now e-mailing this info anyway..but the book gives a dummy activation code.

Bell Atlantic is still relatively new. I get DSL on Monday. I was wondering if anyone knew which GSP to choose QWEST or GTEI

Just a follow-up to my posts.. I came home from work on 2/4 and my modem was in sync! I ran the setup program.. chose GTEI (I had no idea which to pick that or Qwest) and got set up and running!

I share my DSL connection using All Aboard and it works GREAT! Very easy set-up for Host and Client machines.

I have had no disconnects and have been connected many many hours at a time.
