i wonder if it had anything to do with that complaint being taken to parliament last time. u guys remember that? the one some guy submitted email to some parliament MP and got a reply? was an old topic.

in any case, so long as the relevant ministry is actually monitoring this, i guess its all good. imagine if mahathir was the one commenting on this, and comes out on the 8pm news. i think tmnet's ceo will resign straight man.

Its basically A vision, and i think its the vision that drives the industry, you have to set a goal somewhere.

Too set a goal is 1 thing but to implement steps to reach that goal is another... 2020 is coming... pretty soon open market is coming as well... even with all the delays... Steps which are not taken with pure aim to achieve that goal then it would all be meaningless... nice blurry wordings huh

Well they better do something about it & soon...

Yea...all these top guns NEVER know (Or mayb they have short memories!) how the common ppl in the street suffers! Just like our highway condition..now increasing speed limit but road conditions still deplorable! Small cars like ones we drive will b bouncing around but they in their limos not feel what we feel..rite?
Should b IMPROVE road conditions; then raise speed limit!
So for Streamyx, should improve existing lines then only implement other ventures!

To the earlier posts i would have to say that i pretty agree with you all. However, i would have to say it isnt as simple as you think when it comes to TMNet. Now please remember, i am not taking sides but i am just using my experience in the IT field and this is just MY OPINION. There are 2 reasons for which i think TMNet are facing most problems in:

1. Scale of the project being undertaken.
I think people tend to forget that we are firstly a developing nation and secondly we are so freaking bigger then Singapore. They have a goal that has been committed to make Malaysia a wired country by 2005 and the government will not like it if they failed. Not only money but reputation is at stake. We have so many undeveloped area's and while implementing such facilities would be easy in the Klang Valey or west peninsular as a whole, how about the rest? It's no easy task i tell you and its not just about money

2. Expertise are not cheap.
TMNet are new at DSL and you have to accept that they will not be technically capable until quite sometime. i am sure some of you might think "Why cant we get foreign experts in?". Well, the answer is simple. They dont come cheap. The better they are the more they cost. Now imagine this, let say that TMNet has to employ 50 technical experts for the whole of Malaysia (let's assume its enough but it actually isnt). these consultant would be able to demand that they are paid no less then USD1,250 per day not including accommodation. No company can sustain that amount of cash outflow despite being a monopoly.

All i am saying is that i do believe that they are doing their best but they can always improve or double their efforts. in the spirit that we are always thought, MALAYSIA BOLEH!!!! kekekekekkek

Cheers!!!

um, hey all, welcome to the capitalist dog-eat-dog-world 21st century.;) to certain extent, we are lucky because our govt STILL plans for bridging the urban and rural gap. u'd see in our country the govt still spends alot on trying to get information technology to the rural areas so that they are not left out.

yes, i agree tmnet sux. bad customer service, slow processing and installation, sub-standard connection. tmnet, being part of telekom and also govt indirectly, have monopoly. up to this point its all true.

yet, try to think about it, tmnet HAS to set up the infrastructure using its own resources and manpower for the WHOLE countr by govt orders. it aint easy task man. they CANNOT screw up, or else they have to answer to govt, and there will be hell to pay.

17 years to go for 2020 to arrive. i'd think we're making good progress. our country survived the toughest economic times of '98 without foreign help. our country survived every onslaught of foreign criticism of our laws and policies. our country's GDP is still growing despite neighbouring countries' troubled economies.

best part is this: last time we had to tell foreigners "oh our country is just north of singapore", now we say "i'm from malaysia" and ppl knows.

Burp they ain't really my I didn't spend a single cent on them only my time & sweat on them... I was given in overall charge of them & their shells... well that was then la.... now think back I felt I could have gotten a better deal with just spending that time watching cartoons lol...

Icequake it has been dog-eat-dog since beginning of time la back then its probably men-actually-eat-men nia

We can only hope they change/upgrade their customer service nia... anyway at least after so much complains on that singer's song we no need need to hear it any more & that is the 1st step in the right direction.

What is the tallest building in the world?
Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA.

on the FIA calendar, 2nd leg of F1 Grand Prix is in
MALAYSIA.

There is no reason for foreigners not to know where Malaysia is!!!
