That depends on what you are pinging. If the IP is on the other side of the planet it is very good. If it is right door to you or on your network I would not call it good even.
If the intention is to play a game that is more than enough. |

Keep getting disconnected. My cable company says i am pinging too high.
Keep making setting in the routor, to try and get it to stay connected. I have 5 computor. BEFW11s4 xp

There appear to be some other connections in there that are having latency problems. FYI, you may not want to post your IP address unless you have a GOOD firewall. I scanned the whole range 24.239.115.1 - 24.239.115.254 and found several connections that have high latency.

Most responses are in the 70 - 110 ms range. Have you had your cable provider troubleshoot your connection? There may be too much signal loss between the provider and your cable modem.

It is not a Linksys problem, you'll have to work with your local provider to make your connection better. The cable in your house could be the problem, or it could be the outside cable. The best thing to do would be call your provider.

My cable company, went through a lot of testing, went i get off the routor, everything is fine. But went i connect back to the routor. I start pinging high, they say, something is wrong with my setup. I hate getting disconnected all the time. the cable company said i was pinging at 800-1000.
Have any ideas. missy |

Linksys has removed the 1.45 firmware from their site, there are bugs. Were you having the problem before you upgraded?

I don't know if this will solve any problems or even if this is anything useful to you, but two things to check would be MAC cloning and "Block WAN Requests". With some (maybe even most) cable ISPs MAC cloning needs to be used (essentially assigning your router the MAC address of your NIC from your computer). In addition, disabling "Block WAN Requests" sometimes has an effect on various things that have to do with your connection. |
|
| |
to MissyL5
Are you connecting through the wireless or the switch on the router? |
|
| |
I have 3 computor connected, added the switch and 2 more connected on that. My main computor is connected on the routor. all hardwired, missy |

Did you try cloning the MAC address yet? I ask this even though your connection should not work at all if you need to do it and you have not. By chance does the cable connection work on ALL of your computers one at a time? If not, it looks like you need to clone the MAC address of the computer that works onto the Linksys.

I did clone the address and all computors are on line.

I get this.

And that is not that bad considering I am in Europe. |

Much better.
Starting ping - May 09, 2003 20:11:51 Pinging 24.239.115.61.... Now I would suggest turning on Block WAN Request, turn off Remote Management and Remote Upgrade, change your admin password and run some security tests....If you don't have a good firewall, I would suggest Tiny Personal Firewall, Zone Alarm, or Kerio.
