I think this will work for you. Also, after you set this, right click on the taskbar and choose...Lock the taskbar.

CTRL - No sorry, the stuff IS there, the expander keeps flaking out. I use standard XP OS display, no third party stuff/skins etc. The apps are things like ZA, Network activity, Messenger, AOL etc.. and I know the apps are running I can see them in the task manager processes, but cannot get access to those apps until I can restore the absent/AWOL button.
