Although i haven't seen any benchmarks for the 100 bus Celeron2 so I can't say for sure, but it's likely close to the duron (but still costs more). The 133 bus PIII i would certainly think would destroy the Duron MHz for MHz although the Duron is considerably better at overclocking and can easily surpass 1gig in most cases while the PIII would be pushed if OC'd that high. Overall I would prefer a PIII to a Duron, but the cost is significant and likely won't drop too much more.
--
Me

First of all he would need to fork out 100+ for the mobo and then reinstall the OS because windows hates switching between platforms without a reinstall. The cheaper and easiest solution would be to pick up the celeron 800 (its like $110 and will probably drop soon) and just pop it in and ride it out till it needs to get faster then buy a whole new system.
--
Me

Buggy posted : Celeron 800 is the same as the PIII 800 (100). They both run 100 bus and if you want to keep the PC100 memory you have you shouldn't buy a 133 Proc. The Celeron 800 is about 40-50 bucks cheaper than the PIII 800 (100) and is essentially the same exact thing with half the cache. It might be your best bet for a simple cheap upgrade.
--
Me
