Typically FUD by the RIAA

The tactics the RIAA is resorting to would be unheard of in any other industry. The worst part about this lawsuit is that while it trudges on, they get free publicity to spread around the FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) in the hearts and minds of John Q. Filetrader.

The worst part is that they are sacrificing their own cash cow. The market has spoken: We want music, and if you give it to us at a fair price, we will buy tons of it. If you had a product that tens of millions of [otherwise totally law-abiding] citizens were willing to steal, I bet you'd find a way to sell it to them instead.

The RIAA can bluster and stomp its feet all it wants because the only people they're scaring with their tactics are n00bs and braindead people who don't know any better. Meanwhile, the P2P savvy continue and every serious fan of music on the planet becomes increasingly p1ssed off, which is a good thing.

One day the RIAA will realize that for every nuisance lawsuit it initiates and every obnoxious note it mails out to a university, profit becomes that much more anemic. I don't know any serious fans of music who are happy with the RIAAs current war on them.
