I usually get consistent results around 1297/245 from »support.sbcglobal.net/ds ··· eedtest/ , which is comparable to just about every other one I've tried that wasn't suffering from some sort of Internet Flu.

»chi.speakeasy.net is OK but it's been flakey lately.

Hi,

Here's an interesting one in Sedalia (from the speed test tools page here at BBR) -

»quake.iland.net/dsltest/

Reports my speed as 651 kbps which is about 31 kbps better than chartermi which is in my backyard?

Good Luck

This is only good for download and it gives you speeds in megabits per second and kilobytes per second. i.e 1.3 or 163 but it only allows 3 tests per hour.

»bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/

Another one is

»performance.buckeye-express.com/

This is a good FTP one it's from OOL

This one was given to me by an SBC tech in MI. It gives me my exact download speed. It's always right on the money, I test by downloading an actual 150 mb file also.

The SBC speedtest is the next closest one for me !

This one reminds me of the old speed test...BlueMarble DSL Speed Test with the 'Verbose' that you can check to get more info... Still one of my favorites...

kcazzie,

That one did about right for download. My upload was 240 instead of 320 on speakeasy, sbc or other speed test sites. Just thought I would give a head up on that.

You can try speedus.com, it only does download speeds. There used to be another one, speedguide.net, but I was unable to get into it earlier. They had a bunch of links to different speed test sites. Also some other stuff, like patches.

Someone posted "Speed test anyone?" message in this forum about 6-8 months ago.
The post contained links to tens (if memory serves me well) speed test sites.
I don't have the actual link, however :-(

I usually use speedtest from Speakeasy.chi and it is usually consistant with the SBC one, and the one posted by BB..... As I noticed tonight....
I have just recently changed from a U.L. to DSL on POTS, and I can't remember exact distance on UL, but I believe it was approx 8700 feet. Someone recently told me my POTS DSL distance as appprox 8400 feet.... (Dummy Me, I didn't write it down!!!)...
For approx 1.5 years, I've been pretty consistant at 1306/246 on U.L.... I get 1306/246 on POTS/DSL too.
Advanced Line Diags (On 4060 Modem) measures about the same on both lines...

Only thing I did was purchase a SIECORE DSL FILTER BOX.. on my POTS.... No "kit" filters used... Anybody need any?

Gotta admit, Last 1.5 Years + have been pretty consistant....

heres one from CompUSA, »www.pcpitstop.com/intern ··· ault.asp

Actually, the whole suite of tools at pitstop is pretty good, especially for those that really dont want to fool with their pc, the testing has methods to automatically update registry entries based on test results.

I teach basic PCs at a local community college, and send my students to pitstop for pc tuneups. Most have found it very helpful.

Nope.
