Verizon DSL → A litt;e help

This is not for me but for my brother who too became a victom on verizon curse. He has the external modem the new one (I dunno cuz I got mine long time ago and it's internal) so anyway he has the say problem i used to have he has timeouts like for 2min. every 10min. Well I fixed it on my old modem but I dunno how to do it on his any suggestions.
