Thanks for the feedback. I agree with the 'non computer' approach. Will try this and have the blocking of "msgr.hotmail.com" in hand if it doesn't work.

Maybe just get a RP614 Router which has this "feature" built in.;) See The other side

If you can block address ranges then 64.x.x.x and 207.46.x.x seems to do the trick, you may block some sites by accident but you'll have to keep an eye on it. If new servers pop up then you'll have to add them. The best way is to run up messenger (i do with every new release) with nothing else running, if it connects do a "netstat -a" from a command prompt and take a note of the connections.

You can then use these using nslookup or some other method to find the IP and block them. If you can do URL filtering then block the word "messenger". There are other methods, mail me at beensick@msn.com if you need more info. I don't know the capability of your router/firewall so you may have to use a different method.
