CampMaster posted : I did it, but to no avail. I have spoke with a third person using a Linksys Router on Cox here in South Orange County and they have been having the SAME problem. Changing the router to a D-Link or Netgear solves the problem.

There is no question, something has changed on the COX network here in South Orange County and has created an incompatibility between COX HSI and Linksys Routers (BEFSR41, BEFSR81 and BEFSX41). I have not got any confirmation from COX, but it is pretty clear.

~Tom

CampMaster posted : FYI, We swapped the BEFSR41 of my friends in Mission Viejo with a D-Link DI-604 and his problem has disappeared.

I think Cox has introduced something into the Network here in South County that has created an incompatibility with Linksys BEFSRx1 units. I don't know what, but it is causing a what amounts to a loss of connectivity. No errors in the logs, no lights flashing incorrectly, no loss of sync etc....just plain, no internet access for around 30seconds to 1 minute. My Router and my friends router both had the latest firmware revs.

Don't know what it is, but this is something that has been introduced in the last 30 days. I did an advanced exchange with Linksys on my router, but that did not change the problem. Also swapped my Linksys Cable modem (BEFCMU10 V2) with a Motorola (SB5100), no change in problem.

Anyone?

~Tom

DBB8 posted : You are running the latest firmware so you are ok. The warning that you see in the log are possibly some optional values in the DHCP renewal that the provisioning server is sending that the modem does not support... we are still looking into which values are causing that but it is not a show stopper...just one of the many warnings you will get in DOCSIS networks. We will either get linksys to modify their firmware or we may be able to do some tweaking on our end so the warning will go away. The T3 timeouts are normal and happen depending on network conditions with any modem when the modem tries to adjust its power... A modem can go thru 16 consecutive T3 timeouts and then there are several more processes before it looses sync with the headend...So most of that stuff you see is normal DOCSIS process...If you have any connection issues, I can give you my e-mail address and we can resolve it and can also get you in touch with Linksys...they are in Irvine. I am a very legitimate DOCSIS Engineer located @ Cox headquarters in Atlanta, so let me know if I can be of any help.

Ben.
