tymfdc posted : If it is just bad modem, it is not such a big deal. I can always return it and get a new one. Seems like there are only so many possible causes- cable line and modem. Since I have no problem connecting router at work, I never expected to have problem using cable modem. I just thought once it is setup up you plug the cable modem to the router and router to PC and you are done...

By the way I tried the modem at the entry point. It didn't work either. Only installation I did was to run the software from comcast unless plugging and unplugging the modem consider installation.
[text was edited by author 2003-07-12 12:25:49]

Somehow it just stops working after I tried to reconfigure the wiring. I don't know if I caused the problem but even that I still expect the modem to pick up signal from the wire.
tymfdc posted : I called them this morning. They said they can't find anything wrong. They said they will need to send out a technican but if it is my modem then they will have to charge me. Unfortunate my modem is brand new. I am just wondering if I can have them bring a modem out and I will pay the rental thru the trial period and just cancel the service then actually it is cheaper than for me to pay for the service call. I know it is not a lot of saving but it is just the recurring potential.
