I inquired about RCN offering >1 IP address and here is the response I got...
My Original Message (e-mail) ------------------- I heard that RCN is offering more than one IP address as a beta-test program in some areas, are you offering this in Allentown PA yet? If so can I get on the program?
Reply from RCN (e-mail) -------------- Thank you for writing to RCN.
Currently the multiple IP program is out of beta testing. To find out if it's available in your area, you will need to call our cable modem sales department at this number: 800-443-4253.
Please contact us if you have any further questions. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist you.
Multiple agents receive your e-mail requests. Please leave the previous message intact so we may serve you better.
Suzanne B. E-mail Support RCN Corporation
-----------------------
At this point I called the above 800# which connected me to RCN COMMERCIAL Sales. I explained that I was calling to inquire about multiple IP options on RESIDENTIAL Cable-Modem service, not commercial and the rep transferred me to Residential Tech Support.
I spoke to a tech support rep who checked and told me (contrary to the above message) that this program still IS in beta and is available in the Philadelphia PA area only. I explained that I was told differently by E-Mail support and the rep offered to transfer me back to sales to check and see if they have different info about whether its available or not. I declined the transfer as prior experience indicates it would be a waste of time. I once had a RCN sales rep argue with me that an optional service on my cable bill did not exist even though they were billing me for it for the past two years, so I try to avoid talking to them whenever possible.
Seems its the old right-hand doesn't know what the left-hand is doing situation. If anyone here can post who I should call and ask for (or preferably e-mail) to actually GET additional IP addresses please do.
Write to multiuser@rcn.com for info and help. That's the email of the people who set mine up. (The beta here was in January, with a grandfathering of up to 4 IPs until September if you participated and answered the survey.)
