you guys are lucky..damn, I wish I could get Comcast or SBC with that fancy 3.5mbps package. Im paying $45 for a lousy 1.5/256 connection from BellSouth. My test results where 1786/200 atleast I know the download is ok but sometimes I wish they'd give me actually a 256 upload for what Im paying for. You guys dont know how good you got your broadband. I'd be lucky If I could bypass a 200 upload and here I am drueling with you guys talking about a 6meg connection from so and so. Only BellSouth wants to serve my area.. and so it show be. |

Hey, you have it easy. In my part of the country, the two phone companies are Qwest (640 down, 256 up,) and Verizon (768 down, 128 up!)
and, 200 is about right for a claimed 256.. You're a touch on the slow side, but you'll never see a 'true' 256. The fact that you're getting better than 1500 down is extremely rare. (You must be on a remote terminal with the speed turned up to try to compensate for distance. It helps downloads, but doesn't do anything for uploads. if BS knew you were getting 1800, they'd turn you back down to 1500.) |
