Downloading

Hi. I'm aware that there is no downloading cap currently imposed (that we are aware of) but I feel safe asking here first...

My 60 GB HD started acting up a while ago, so I backed up all my data, and saved it at work. My HD just crashed, and I need to download the HD image that is saved at work, from my PC here at home, using OOL. Like I said, there's no capping for downloading, but 60 GB of downloading is an awful lot, and I just wanted to get users' opinions as to if it would be safe to go ahead and download it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You obviously used some method, other then OOL, to get your data to your work computer, why not use the same method to restore it?

Just crank it up and DL it with OOL. No one is going to say a word about it.

the IT department where you work may get a little pissed (unless you are the IT department ). If I was running a network, I sure as hell would not want somebody uploading 60 GB of data over an expensive T1+.

Actually, the building is closed for a while due to construction so that's why I couldn't just go there to copy the image manually.

If you're connection at work is real fast, then 60MB ~ 1 minute so 60GB ~ 1000 mins ~ 16 hours.

DL away, that's one that that just RULES with OOL. Restoring systems back to health when you don't have all the software on hand is really quick.

I pulled down a copy of FBSD and had it configured within the hour - avg xfer speed 950Kbytes/s from Germany. Talk about insane!

Kudos to OOL , I also got to take in a streaming film on Heavy.Ca and loved the experience.

This service could be so much cooler if they'd just cut down and tune their capping scripts a bit, and if I can get my signal problem fixed.

Othrwise I'm having a lot of fun being a member of the OOL club and am not shy to point out any shortcomings.

Good luck to a quick restore of your stuff,
Sed
