Re: Tweaked-out Tarheel

Try dropping the RWIN down to 35000 to see if it dose not smooth you out some there.

Welcome to DSLR.

Thanks. Gave it a shot, but things slowed down considerably, so I put it back up to 37,000.
Cheers.

Oay you do seem to have some latency going on there. So with a 1500 line speed try to boost up then to oh go for 46720 for a RWIN.

Here is a download only speed test closer to you in New Zealand. a 1m and 500k test from here »jetstreamgames.co.nz/spe ··· 1MB.html

And this is in San Francisco »sfo.speakeasy.net/

Rin some test after the tweak and check your speed. If it dose not go up much try a RWIN of 55480

Good luck with improved speed. And from Japan a ttl of 128 would likely be best if you don't already have that.

Gave it a shot. My download time improved a bit, but I got a retransmission warning and there was a plus-two-second whatchamicallit (see FAQ) in the Tweak Tester middle column. I pussed out and changed it back, heeding the grave advice of my ISP tech staffer who warned me of people who had burned out their modems with excessively high settings afer getting some amazing speeds, sort of like a Cyber Icarus. Have you heard of people encountering such problems with modems? Is there a potential downside to exceeding the Tweak Tester II recommended limits?
