Downloading with IE ! ? ! ? ! ?

Just converted to DirecWay from AOLPlus. Trying to download files with IE 6.0. Test speed before and average 1,500 bps; first 70% (almost precisely) of file downloads at 200-240 Bps, then speed falls to less than 30 bps; stop download and speed test shows 25-30 bps.

Has happened on one file at three DIFFERENT sites (one of which is subscription for high speed server) and a second file at the high speed site.

Would have thought file was corrupted, but it happened at multiple sites on multiple files and always at 70%.

Is there a setting in IE or Windows ME that I've missed? Am I filling up a buffer or something?

Thanks to anyone who can offer a suggestion.

Welcome to BBR\DSLR mishapo1

Since your question was about IE, I'll attempt to help from that end instead of mentioning other browsers. When you say DirecWay are you speaking of Satellite. If so there is going to be a difference in quality\quantity. Perhaps if and when you get time....you can check out our Forum dealing with Direcway since there is some tweaking one can do when using satellite that can assist with the variables one experiences.

Good Luck,

In my opinion DirectWay was not a good choice to switch to, but that's another topic, as far as the drop goes >> DirectWay uses a proxy buffer so the large DL speed you see is just the browser "catching-up" with the download size based on time, if you are stating the 30 number listed on the browser that is Bytes/sec so it is about 240bits/sec, for DirectWay you need a VERY large RWIN due to the very long Latency it has >> usually 1000ms or more >> as Bubba said: go to the DirectWay satellite forum there are setup Faqs listed there.

The DW6000 system has been great for me so far. Much better than the 4000.
