Beautiful Pics Ohdan! The desert can be so pretty, especially in the Spring after the rains, and before it gets hot, the flowers are just amazing! Here's some pics from my home in Redwood Valley up north here

Here's some more fall pics from around my house By the way, all those leaves have fallen off now, and it is flooded in that field now (it's been raining hard the last few days, more coming tonight and tommorrow, and then again for next Thur-Sat). Also, in the background just before that hill starts is Forsythe Creek (you can kind of see the bluff above it's far bank in the pic), part of the Russian River Headwaters, and is home to both steelhead trout and salmon during spawning season.

ILOVELA2, have you ridden the little steam railroad at Jamestown? I rode that a couple of years ago, it went thru some pretty gold country.

Thank you both for the pics, they are all so pretty and really illustrate why CA is the most beautiful state (IMO). Nowhere else can you get the variety you have here!

No, but I'd love to, and the Sierra Railroad, which runs freight and passenger from Oakdale to Sonora, including Jamestown (Sierra owns the track that the Jamestown runs on). They're quite a prosperous rail line, ship quite a lot of freight and have some awesome passenger excursions. They have filmed tons of tv shows and movies there, including Back to the Future III, Petticoat Jct, Little House on the Prairie and the Shakiest Gun in the West, and many a western serial. Here's the links for them

"The Sierra Railroad has become commonly known as The Movie Railroad. With its superb scenery, this railroad has been singled out by movie producers from around the world as a preferred location for filming. The Sierra has been featured in over 200 motion pictures, television programs and commercials. The first film was in May of 1919, The Red Glove. Then came diverse and varied films such as the first "talkie" filmed on the railroad, The Virginian (1927); Dodge City (1939); Oscar-winning High Noon (1951) with Grace Kelly and Gary Cooper; The Great Race (1966); Finian's Rainbow (1969); The World's Greatest Lover(1970); and Back to the Future III (1989). In addition, Hollywood movie stars like Mable Norman, William S. Hart, John Wayne, Michael Landon, Clint Eastwood, Michael J. Fox, and Drew Barrymore all played a part in the Sierra Railroad's storied past"

I'll make sure and take some more of them, I love lighthouses too! There are a ton of them up here, all along the Sonoma, Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte County coasts.
