I did use the remove tool from Panda that Randy mentioned. It seems to have removed it all, but left all of my executables not working. That's not a big deal though as I'll just reinstall or redownload. However, the damn thing still came back and the registry key popped back up.

NAV is scanning now, so we'll see what that does. I had to reinstall NAV too because the virus got a hold of it.

Am I correct in assuming that as long as that registry key is out that the virus can't propagate? If this is the case, I'll try to wipe clean all of the infected files without running anything to invoke the virus. I deleted the registry key and then rebooted to stop it from attaching itself to explorer.exe. Well, I ran a virus check with AVG and found out that I have the W32/Parite virus. There are about 800 .EXE files contaminated and AVG has been unable to remove it. I followed the instructions to remove it from the registry, but it keep reappearing there. I'm downloading the trial version of Norton now to see if that will do it. Any other suggestions on getting rid of this thing? Currently, a full format and re-install is not an option.

Trend Micro HouseCall

and I recommend the Panda ActiveScan first, Trend HouseCall second .. as the two best online scans, in that order. HouseCall is faster but Panda is more thorough, imho. ;-)

check your event viewer (%SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc /s) for any errors.

If you are over clocking your PC, don't.

Check for any disk errors. Run chkdsk in CMD window with "/f"

Run "sigverif.exe"

UT will work once or twice if I apply the recent patch, and then will revert again to the above. ICU really baffles me because it keeps saying the "Old Version". It doesn't give an error, just tells me I need to update. It will again work once or twice and then go back to telling me it's an old version. In the "About" though, it reports the most recent version that I am updating to.

My mom was over and I installed Kodak EZ share for her to get some pics off her camera. Same kind of thing happens. It works fine for a bit, but then eventually gives only errors when trying to start it and I have to reinstall it.

ICU is also screwy. I update to the new version and it works, then the next time I start it it says "Old Version" and I have to reinstall the update to get it working.

Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? Thanks in advance.
