My notes say the same happened to me with a Silver Card (didn't do trial). I disabled and reenabled content filtering and it started working immediately.
Also, when registering with Silver Card I had choice of picking today or tomorrow (this was last week, forgot exact dates). At first I chose today and after hitting submit button it said that was invalid date. Set it for tomorrow and registration completed successfully. Sorry I don't have more detailed notes. As I said, sounds similar to your experience. Try disabling then enabling CF and see if it starts working. I had it working within a couple minutes. Hope that helps.
