That is Military Law, no more, no less.
Which is identical to Saddam Hussein had, no more, no less.

No, He would have executed them. No more no less.

Don't steal in the first place right? Don't loot. Commit the crime you pay the price. Good one huh?

Who do you think you are to decide that?

Not me, the Iraqi's. The majority of Iraqi's are currently very upset that they can't execute people for committing crimes like looting. They think that is half the reason that they have been seeing as many murder bombers as they have. Because once caught those who plan them will simply go into a cell, rather then die. When the coalition took over, executions were banned. That didn't make the population happy.

Before you jump up and down and start saying 'I know nothing of what is going on', I do have some idea of what's going on only because I have a couple of friends who moved back to Iraq to help rebuild. Simple hmm?

That is the point, although I do not agree at all with executing anyone for any reason whatsoever, the country belongs to the iraqis, not to americans or anyone else. It is not for americans or anyone else to decide how to run iraq.

Unfortunately, your point is off. First you don't understand the culture or their rule of law. Second, right now it is our duty to govern them, simply for this reason: The Iraqi's have no government, as it stands it is our duty to govern it until they get their act together which they are doing quite well on their own regardless of what you hear on the 6 o'clock news.

10825447 put it really clearly, but I can get into a really nice long post if you really want. But think of it this way. Saddam was Saddam, he wasn't smart like Gaddafi.
