Laptop Issues - Not bootingOk i just got a laptop off my friend, its a HP ominbook 6000. He told me straight up that it wouldnt boot because of the demo version of xp not working (key expired). So i said ok, i installed a new copy on NTFS and XP worked w00t. So i get all of my configs set up my soft installed and then BOOM i get the blaster worm within the first 5 min of being online. It shut me down. So i went into services, told my RPC to restart the process rather my computer, so i could at least try to fix the issue. I started to install norton anti-virus and it was about 2/3 through teh install and then BOOM blue scrren of death memory dump. Then i started it back up again and now it sayes somthing about not being able to do a network boot?????? I was like wtf? So it wont boot. How do i restart the bois on this beast? And fix this problem? I think the worm detected me installing anti-virus and then changed my bios but i dunno.
The specs are -P3 650E -512 kingston ram -20gb hitachi hdd HP OMNIBOOK 6000 |

Can you boot into safe mode? And can you disconnect it from the internet and repair blaster from a floppy? That's what I had to do with my mother's - disconnect the cable modem and it stayed on and let me fix it. |

Save yourself a lot of headaches and boot from the XP CD and format the HDD and reinstall. If you can't get into the BIOS try the "delete" key, "F1" key, "F2" key or "Alt+Esc" keys. |

No guys thats all fine and dandy but, i cant find the DRIVE!!!!!!!!! When i try to boot i get No operating system found. Since im n school right now i dont have my xp cd, but i did manage to get a 98 disc. I tried that and it sayes "no os can be installed because there is no harddrive detected", "the hard disk may be corrupted or damaged" |

If you are using a 98SE disk it will NOT find a HDD. The HDD is formatted NTFS which 98SE can NOT read or SEE. See if one of your class mates has a XP CD of the same version as your and boot off that. Also there should/could be a diagnostic program on a hidden partition of the HDD. Some, not all, notebook makers have a Function key (F key) to boot to this diagnostic program or for a one time boot menu where you can select the diagnostic program and run it. |

Can you get into the BIOS and see if the HDD is detected in there? If not the mb may be toast. |
