5Ghz for backhauls Rocks!!!Just installed a couple of 5Ghz radios for backhaul today, and what a difference. 1 or 2 ms ping replies, gotta love it. 2 more go in the air tommorrow and 4 more next week. Woo-hoo..Just excited. My interference problems are finally going bye-bye. Hope this helps some one else. |

I ordered 4 tranzeos to test. So happy am ordering 4 more tommorrow. I was expecting a aiming nightmare but went smooth. To me it was nice to call them with a question today and have the person that answered the phone answer all my questions. The real kicker was a loaded pop and doing a ping -l 1450 ping and seeing a steady 8ms ping. |

I read that someone said that the tranzeo stuff looked "cheezy" i have seen pictures and i would agree but i want to get some of this equpiment in my hands to try out. How is the quality of the equpiment and it is good to hear that the support was a good experience though that is hard to find anymore. What setup are you using and how far are you backhauling?
Thanks |

We also use the tranzeo as a backhaul. Going about 5/6 miles from a free standing tower to our water tower. Throughput about 12 megs. |

Compared to other radios they do look weird or cheap. I really don't care about the looks of the radio, it's how it performs that I care about. This link was about 4 miles. Your right on support issues. I tried Tranzeo a year ago for their CPE's and quit using them. Looks to me like they have made some good changes. |

So what is your current thought on the tranzeo cpe's? |

I got 1 cpe to test with on my SB net it worked ok in the shop but never showed a good signal str but passed data well. I am afraid to send it out in the field for testing. |

For all who have a 5.8 tranzeo backhaul in place. What are your signal readings, channel, distance, and throughput. I too have just bought a pair of them and began testing.
I tested a 12 mile link but couldn't get over %50 signal levels. I tried all of the 5.8 channels without much change. I was just wandering what everybody else was getting on the signal strength readings. |

Oh yeah, What antennas are you guys using in your setups? |

Signals are 100%, 87%, 83%, top to bottom. Have you tried under advanced changing the KM distance? I found this setting to be critical. Of course I only have a 4 mile link, but not much of a antenna either |

Tried it all the way up to 100km, but didn't seem to change it much. My readings were something like 100, 50, 45. I am using 28 dbi equinox grid dishes.
Which antennas are you using? Do you have complete LOS? |

I was referencing the 2.4 CPE. it never showed a signal str above 40 at a distance of about 100' but did pass data at speeds above 2mb |

We are using one of the flat panel antennas and the big dome antenna on the actual water tower. IT was a pain to align to find the sweet spot, signals were about 30-50 percent, but once we found the spot nicely, went to 85-100%. |

It was I that said they looked "Cheezy"... I went with the TrangoLink for my backhaul.
I didn't spend too much effort trying to aim hard and we have a great link @ 9 miles, stable and fast @ 9771mbs.
The only thing that seems odd to me is the losing a network link (ie unplugging the cat 5 cable from the switch) will totally screw you unless you reboot the power on the unit. This seems that both the remote and master units have this issue. So if I have a power blip my backhaul will require a in person visit to get it back up, not something I care to do since it's up top of a mountain.
yes I use USPs on the mountain side/generator and the master is on a generator. Anyways besides that one issue I am happy with the, the web interface is nice. |

Well I got my 2nd set up and running and I still think they rock. The 2nd one feeds the tower I'm hooked up to at home so I can see the differnece just like my customers. Rock solid and running great. Chiefmbr, I'm using the ones with built in antennas. But again only 4 mile link. |

I would not be surprise to see 802.11a (5.xG) be this good.
Just ask yourself: How many are using 2.4G freq vs 5.xG?
You'd realize that for every 10,000 using 2.4G, there is about 1 using 5G.
Likewise, your kitchen's microwave oven, baby listening station and wireless phones are not using 5G so it makes the 5G spectrum very clean
Dont get yuor hopes up though. Many have realized this and are joining the wagon. but we are still pretty safe till spectrum will be cleam for several years to come |
