Hey Monce,

If you look here, you can see the Etheric speed test result archive. »/archi ··· eric.net
Those are the typical speeds that Etheric cusotmers see. Yes, it like gold - Black gold!

It is not satellite, but wireless. You should be able to see the Santa Cruz mountains from your location. Call them to find out the exact locations. No you don't have to be in the mountains, but the closer you are to the SC mountains (Cambell, Los Gatos, etc..) the better chance you have of getting Line-of-Sight (LOS).

Yes, you can run servers as long as you don't abuse the service and hog bandwidth. High-bandiwdth gaming servers are pushing the limit, but FTP, Web, and e-mail should be fine.

Yes, you can try the service out for 30 days. If you are not satisfied, then you can cancel. As far as I know, there hasn't been one customer that has cancelled service, because Etheric will try their best to accommodate your needs and want you to be a happy customer.

a day is not alot of bandwith i just care about my upload
like i said download dont realy matter i just need that
high Upload & as far as LOS i can C MY street on the de-tailed coverage MAP so that should not B 2 bad I hope
& again I hope online gameing/hosting your own servers is not Hogging bandwith I shouldnt hog bandwith because i dont
have like 50 machines so the most computers I will have on at 1 time is 2 so there should not B a problem with Useing 2 much bandwith/Hosting your own servers at LEAST i hope

Running Game servers is a tricky thing. Some people do it, I've even done it with Etheric, and it all depends on how much bandwidth you are using and what plan you have. Some games like UT2004 just crave bandwidth, unlike games like Half-Life or older games. 32 players vs 16 players. It's not something that can be defined here, but something that you will have to play with to find something that falls within their usage agreement.

As far as you playing (and not serving) online games - there is no problem with that as it's just a tiny speck of bandwidth that is used. You could play all day for a month and it would be no problem.

Again with LOS, it doesn't matter if you are in the coverage area, there may be a building in your way, or a group of trees. The service is LOS, which means you need to be able to see the tower to get signal. It does not work through dense trees or structures. Please call them and find out the coordinates and you can perform your own site survey if you don't wish to wait for them to come out.

Hmm.. I don't know for sure. Since I don't work for the company, I can't answer that. If you had the SOHO plan and you were paying for the bandwidth, then I would imagine it would be good. But I'm not sure if the residential plans will let you use that much upstream bandwidth all the time.

Call them and ask. Maybe someone from Etheric will chime in here and speak about that.

Sustained usage of 1mb 24/7 isn't gonna fly w/ Alex. I know that for fact. The network isn't designed for that kind of load. Just imagine all the customers using 1mb upload 24/7.
There wouldn't be any upload left if that was the case.

I can understand seeing all this upload and wanting to take advantage of it, but there ARE some limitations.

I would say you are safe to use about 200-250kbps sustained upload. If you hit 1mb here and there, i don't imagine it being a problem. Hitting 1mb 24/7 will definitely put you into the business bracket of Etheric's Service. Of course that means you will pay more.

Hope that clears it up for you. Good Luck.
