Did you not get the upgrade? =(
Personally I am on 1184/160 so I guess I don't subscribe to 1.5 maybe that's why I didn't get the upgrade.. lol
actually I guess everyone that was on 1 mbit still (and isn't some fluke where they overlooked the last upgrade) is still on 1 mbit... I think I should go to cable...

I believe some of the areas they may have perhaps 'missed'. They had to print out a new work order for my upgrade.. still waiting, they said 2-3 days..

Hi,

If the 3Meg has come too your town, you must contact Bell and ask them to send you the new modem if u're still stuck with the NOrtel 1meg. They'll send you a new one supporting the future 8Mbps... The delivery takes about 3-5 days and you pay a looney.

Enjoy..

Errata :

The sentence : ...you pay a looney.

Should rather be: .. you won't pay a looney.

Sorry

Maybe because you're paying a 5 Mb price but getting only 3 Mb service? Have you considered a move to Cogeco territory?

If I were to move just for faster Internet don't you think it'd be wise to go somewhere where they sell residential 100mbit cheap?

Now that is a silly suggestion. I live in Bell territory. I refuse to do business with Rogers. My point is that Bell is not telling the truth on this one.

In my eyes, atleast they're doing better than Rogers.

If you haven't been upgraded, call, and simply demand an upgrade. Don't sound incompotent, and just talk to him firmly, and command him to give you the upgrade. The customers is always right, so you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

Greetings,

Do you feel cheated because your residential line couldn't handle full upgrade or the fact they're telling a blatant lie on this one?

Some people have been left off the upgrade by mistake. The upgrade software is not perfect. If you feel you should have been upgraded and believe your line can handle it, why not give tech support a call and explain your situation as one of those that were "overlooked".

This is bullshit. I have a line rating of "6", and Ultra. Why am I not going 3500/640 real speed?

how is the article a lie?

it says 75% of their customers are upgraded...meaning about 375,000 have not been upgraded...it simply means if you are not upgraded, you are one of the 375,000 still on the older profiles.

Why haven't I been upgraded? I have a line rating of '6'! Is it random choice?

I've got my upload portion upgraded, yet my download speed is still the same. Incidentally, my line is graded at 1.5. Does this mean I need to wait for a Stinger to be installed in my area, or should I call Sympatico and ask them (I like to avoid calling tech support as much as humanly possible)?

Well I just talked to a tech there and he said he doesn't really know what's going on. He gave me this number -> 1-888-590-2375 for the "Sympatico High Speed Centre" where I can supposedly get a better answer about whats going on. They aren't open 24 hours though, so I'll have to phone back between 8AM and 4PM tomorrow.

Yoda2004, unless you have an open Bell ticket, the High Speed Centre will not help you. If you call that number, you will most likely just be transfered back to Sympatico Level 1 technical support. You're back to square one. By the way, the number I have is 1-877-909-4722.

The line can handle the upgrade. I know that for a fact. I qualify for Ultra and I'm just over 2 km. from the CO. Bell has blatantly told a falsehood here.

And they have not indicated that I can NOT be upgraded, either. I know I am just over 2 km. from the CO (according to Bell). I pre qualify for Ultra.

When I called Bell on April 1 about it, I was told, after the tech made inquiries, "Wait a week. Upgrades are not finished."

I've flagged this with the Globe & Mail. Perhaps they can get some answers. I suspect that engineering at Nexxia hasn't talked to the PR people.

i took me 4 calls to get the upgrade. the article helped along with being firm. 1st level techs are well aware of this issue and will try to give you excuses. 2nd level techs will give you the exact same story. be prepared to be firm. i got upgraded in 15 mins.

Greetings,

Well, I wouldn't exactly call that a fact because, your so called fact is also from the same people who told you do not qualify. They also told you your loop length, did they not? Or, are you suggesting that you work in the industry and have the means to qualify your line on your own? I beg to differ.

Look if you're getting almost 1.5 megs now it's almost 100% likely you can get the 3 meg upgrade. I'm tired of Bell's tech support so I'm just going to wait and if I'm not upgraded by the end of April I'm giving them hell.

mikegames, I don't agree with you when you say that it's almost 100% likely to get the upgrade if you are already at 1.5 meg. I am at the full 1728 Kbps sync and I know for a fact that my line is no where close to be capable for the upgrade (I fall about 900 Kbps short). I know many others in my neighborhood who are in the same situation. If you are at already set to 1728 Kbps download sync, this means absolutely nothing, except for the fact that your line is capable of 1728.

Love the sarcasm. No. I qualify. That's a fact. I have been told by Bell Nexxia (who are not Sympatico) that I am 2.3 km out on the loop. That's good enough for Ultra. And I'm still on the 1.5 meg profile.
