Need Some Advice

Well my vacuum cleaner has died and i need a new one but do not know much about the newer models since mine was around 6 years old. Can anyone please suggest some well built, strong, and powerful vacuum cleaners.

Thanks in advance

Just got a new one from Sears a month ago. Cost $250. It's an upright, does excelent cleaning and has a nifty light and does carpet to flooring.

Stay away from Bagless, they are usally more trouble than they are worth.

Oh, and only complaint about mine is, the head is a bit large to get under beds and the couch.

If I was you I would pay not less than $300.00.

And canister types are better than upright.

how about this one
for $349.00 at Future Shop.

YoYo, Canisters have less sucking power, and use more electricty due to the fact they have farther to "suck".

Now they tend to be a bit easier to get around small places, or up and down a lot of stairs.

If you have any animals, most will suggest you now stay away from Canisters.

Any decent ones under 200? I've been looking for one myself, the one I have doesn't pick up kitty litter and my cat likes to drag it all over the floor and furniture.

Last vacuum I got out of a dumpster outside the public library. Saw a guy dumping it and drove around the block, picked it up and brought it home. Nothing wrong with it, just the hose was clogged. It is just a regular bagged upright Kenmore and it works great.

Ours is an upright Panasonic we bought at FutureShop for just under $300. Other than a problem with the cord retractor breaking (the warranty fixed it, of course--it would only retract and not stay put once pulled out) it does a good job of cleaning up the place. Our upright Kenmore (also under $300) had serious problems and we had to replace it (although the problems might have been our fault!).

Miele vacuum cleaners are probably the best on the market.

RIDGID Wet/Dry Vac with like 8 accessorises for $89.99.

This thing has way more power than those $300 designer vacs and for a fraction of the price. The only draw back this has is that it does not have a powered carpet head... and for most people this won't be a problem at all because of it's massive suction power.

If you have a dog or cat, you might want to buy a super cheap vac that has a powered carpet head as you need one to get those dug-in hairs out from the carpet.

If you don't have a Central Vac system then I'd suggest a Dyson as well. It may cost you a little more than the others but it will do the job you want, do it exceptionally well, and do it consistently during your entire vacuuming cycle.

And if you have a bit more cash lying around and don't want to be bothered with the chore yourself, I would suggest the Karcher RC3000 RoboCleaner robotic vacuum. Again, the most expensive on the market but the only one that actually does the job correctly (product is designed for commercial application).

We have always gone the cannister sears type and finally (after 5 years of looking at the rough-ins on the wall and two old dying vaacs) are going central vac...

Did you know that the Dyson sells 5 for every 1 of other brands?

I may sell the Dyson, but my Aunt in the UK has had one for years and LOVES it.

Try out a Dyson. You do have 30 days to return it if it's not for you, but so far I've challenged almost every customer I've talked to about the Dyson's with this and not a single one has come back.

They truly are the best.

Future Shop staff liked it so much, that the demo'd Dyson's were getting used in store to clean our own carpets. Because of that just last week we switched over and all vacuums we use for maintaining the store are now Dyson's.

There is a reason for the superiority of Dyson Vacs. I suggest you seriously take a look at the features, benefits, and just the truly unique experience cleaning with a Dyson offers.

Customers come back and are always pumped up after using it, so go try it out!

Weren't Dysons rated pretty poorly by consumer reports? Either that or I was smoking something funny. I don't have a subscription so it's pretty hard to verify that.

I'm happy with my Panasonic upright. It has a replaceable HEPA filter.

Can't comment on Consumer Reports but the reviews at Epinions.com seem very favorable.
