The Apple I grew up with (I'm 46) was different in the 70's and 80's, they kept saying be different, think different, then they got big and powerful, and they act just like the companies they parodied, money has changed them.
Is that the fault of Apple or the fault of her customers? I know the folks you’re alluding too, but they’re all customers in my experience, not employees. They’re the ones with the newest iEverything, the ones that have to show it off, the ones that never shut up about it.
The Apple EMPLOYEES I’ve worked with haven’t been all that different than their counterparts at Google or Microsoft. Their engineers and customer service folks don’t seem all that different to me. Of the three, Microsoft probably had biggest chip on the shoulder, but they’ve been humbled these last few years and are a lot easier to get along with nowadays. The only annoying Apple people to me are the hipster sales folks in the Apple Stores, who always seem to find hipster customers to engage in a circle jerk with, which is just as well because it means they leave me alone, lol.
Maybe I have a more realistic view of Apple, being a recent convert, and still seeing areas where Google is better (example: iCloud Photos loses big time in a head to head with Google Photos, it’s not even close....) but also finding myself relatively happy with iOS. That kind of surprised me, I figured I’d hate it, but for my purposes it beats Android in most areas, even with the annoyances and caveats.
