Re: How do I post results of smokeping test from the Tools menu? Super fun happiness time! |
Super fun happiness time on the rCable network. Enjoy your television folks because gaming sucks rocks. |

What is your CMTS IP, or first/second hops after it? |
|
|

CMTS IP would be the first hop after the router? First or second hop after it are as you can see from this PingPlotter5 capture: |

Strange.. im getting a solid 35ms ping (+/- 3ms) to both those from Winnipeg, which is the expected latency to Ottawa.. if the issue is on the CMTS side it should be showing from everywhere.
If the issue is pure bandwidth related. What modem do you have? |

 CANADA PREMIER INTERNET |
A TC4400. Router is a rt-ax88u. Utilizing dual nics team bonded and running through an HP ProCurve 1810G. It's not local, far as I can determine. I showed that chart (similar, from a couple days ago) in the Direct forum and was told it was weather changing and that nothing was showing up. The story is a bit different now as this 'problem' is a wider use related issue as was told to me subsequently after I started this thread and was asked again to post in the Direct forum. Thing is, after I posted the initial PingPlot and the answer I received, I made the presumption that it was some cheap peering that TekSavvy is using since we can never get any stable latency (I don't care about the actual number so much since it the swings and packet loss that distorts our ability to play where the servers are). However, it seems to be a wider issue on the rCable network as well and if they're having issues, well, so do we...at least locally. What's obvious is that there isn't enough capacity to handle the surge in prime time users since the smokeping charts correlate to those time points pretty dramatically. Now, what's doubly frustrating is that while I have a backup DSL connection with Tek, it's going through the EXACT SAME THING!!! You can see that I've invested significant resources to my internet connection (Heck, my rig is a i7 6950x custom water cooled with aquacomputer parts, lol, OC'd to 4.3MHz -- temps always in the low 30s along with the 1080Ti) and it's frustrating beyond belief that it's all pointless since the vendors or somebody hasn't or isn't making decent enough investment to offer us a decent, stable, connection so we can compete in the global sphere. Sigh. And I don't know what to do anymore. I have responsibilities and challenges which means that I can't ground myself enough to understand what's happening or why. Anyway, there's a ticket open... but, I've had open tickets before and any solution only lasts as long as I don't need it, lol. Nearly 8pm local....and yeah. Hello California! Sure wish I could GAME, now instead of at 1:30am! |

We'll get you the response to the ticket as soon as it's available to us. Apologies that responses are coming in very slowly this weekend. |

Sure. Last ticket I had was open for a month. "Solved" it and whoop, right back where it started.
Fact of the matter is, there is no solution that is PERMANENT! It's all flux and complaining. Squeeky wheels get the occasional grease and once they stop whining...a little while later it goes back to what it was.
Listen Stephen, this one time I had a GREAT connection and then it went to SHIT. I posted in the Direct forum and was told that there was really nothing that could be done.....until I told them that a Rogers van had been parked outside earlier in the same day that this started. Yeah, someone came in and FUCKED with my connection. I was LUCKY that I happened to see that van because you know what; if I hadn't, I would still have that SHIT as my connection.
I'm BEYOND tired of the bullshit. I have BOTH services with you and they're BOTH fucked? Nah, that's just fucking wrong.
I want to play fucking chess, god dammit. |

Regarding this - Router is a rt-ax88u. Utilizing dual nics team bonded. Can you try the DSL on it's own? I'd suspect that the latency issue on rCable is affecting both services as they are tied together with your setup. |

No they aren't. I've been using them independently. YOU are the one that told me Bell was having the same issues on THEIR network.
I'm not going to do more bullshit 'troubleshooting'. There's an open ticket for the rCable service. Fix that first and THEN we'll see about the DSL.
And your routing? You haven't been forthcoming about it. ARE you using some cheap second rate service?
I'm not some newbie, man. I spend over $100/month with you guys and I've been a customer for over what; a decade?
Light some fucking torches and get my shit fixed! |

I said (Thanks, sorry the DSL routing is giving some issues too) as in, sorry you are having some DSL issues as well. TekSavvy has no recorded problems on DSL at this time, sorry if a previous comment may have been taken otherwise. In any event, I will follow up with you regarding the rCable latency ticket/problem via the DM thread. |

Well, record one then. I am having DSL latency to the west coast JUST like with cable. Hmm? What's the obvious link? YOU. Are YOU sure you aren't having peerage issues?
Let me be clear: The router sucks at failover. It sucks at load balancing. I use each service independently. In order to use DSL I have to UNPLUG the cable modem and if I want to use, well cable will work if it's the primary but when I did that pingtest for you yesterday I was using the DSL service by itself. The cable modem was connected to another computer separated from the rest of my network.
So. The smokeping test showed both services that I purchase from you suffer from excess latency and jitter from the west coast starting at about 7:30pm until about 1:30am....gee, about the exact hours everyone is watching streaming services including the television services you are offering.
Around September of last year there hordes of people complaining about ping issues during gaming....and lo, it turned out you were hooking people up and had blown through your capacity. Apologies tendered and all that...yeah.
Thanks.
Regardless, I humbly await the Gods of Rogers to FIX my shit. (which I KNOW will never get fucking fixed...ESPECIALLY, since TekSavvy REFUSES to answer a simple question about their ROUTING!!)

Sigh. Nice and good in the middle of the night.... Great network...if no one uses it. LOL smh, ffs |
