Re: Gigabit Internet is in NH! But....

Well, another change was made and I have high hopes for this one. Hard to describe but the seat of the pants feel is very similar to how my connection was originally.

I misunderstood what the engineer told me, even though the speeds didn't last but a few hours, he still thinks it's the issue and will continue down that diagnostic path.

Oh ok, well that's encouraging at least.

well, it's been one week since the latest attempt at fixing my issue and I'm still getting 940Mbps+ speeds day and night. So, here's hoping its truly fixed.

Yeah, definitely - fingers crossed! Lots of people trash ABB, but I must say, they've always taken good care of me and my issues - might not be an immediate fix, but they don't stop until it's working the way it should (and given me lots of service credits along the way).

so, it has been about five weeks since the latest attempt at fixing the issue, and everything is still going strong. 940ish/50ish anytime of the day. The last time I talked to Atlantic bb they still weren't declaring it fixed but from what I can see on my end, it looks promising.

Wow.. I have gigabit as well. You are getting 10-15x the download speed that I am. I'm lucky if I crack 100. Right now I've been dealing with an issue of losing network connection as soon as anyone uses it. Like if I do a speed test on my phone? Everyone else drops connection.

Glad their support helped you, I've been asking about the errors saying "Commanded Power in Excess of 6 dB Below the Value Corresponding to the Top of the DRW" and lots of other stuff. The other day I lost full internet connection (my download was 7 and my upload was 0.3) - they spent like 2 hours just restarting my modem over and over. They then turned on all the wireless instead of leaving it off, thus interfering with my own actual wireless.

Keep at them, if they keep sending contractors for atlantic broadband try to get them to send an actual atlantic broadband employee. Talk to a supervisor and if all else fails file a complaint with the fcc.

if you're not getting over 100Mbps, you should check the connection speed on whatever device your using, the port might not be capable of 1Gbps or the cable could be defective.

It sounds like you may be using two routers? or the atlantic bb gateway and then a router or ap as well. try connecting directly to the atlantic bb provided gear with an ethernet cable and see what your speeds are. Either way with that modem log error and the connection drops it sounds like they need to send a tech out.

Yeah, directly connected is dirt slow. The tech on site told me they don't support that.
Right now I'm getting 397 down and 0.26 up.

So as an update - I had to file a complaint with the FCC. After multiple calls and being told they auto-magically fixed it without coming out, they finally sent someone out. The NOC had bad hardware and my entire area was flooded with bad noise issues and very poor upload.

They gave me a $20 credit for the 6-7 months of sub 1 meg upload on my gigabit plan, and raised my bill $70 because my 6 month promotion expired.

I agree. Glad they got it fixed. Sorry to hear of the roundabout way that was needed to get it resolved. Regarding the increase in the bill, their customer retention department (from my experience) has always been quite good. Might be worth a call to see what they'd be willing to do for you?

IDK, I had to fight with them for years. They solved my problem, and I'm sure other people's problems at the same time, but it def took a lot of constant complaining. I feel like there is a disconnect somewhere within Atlantic Broadband that makes it extremely difficult to reach the proper people to address your concerns.

I remember the struggle you went through. Not fun by any means. Glad everything is working well at least for now.
