Switching to a new phone

I bought a new Pixel phone from the Google store (unlocked). When I receive the phone do I need to contact Verizon to activate it, or can I just move my SIM card from my old phone to the new phone?

When ever I have purchased new devices, I normally just stop by my local Verizon store and have them switch it over.
However you may not be able to switch a sim from one device to the other since my mother in law went from a iPhone 7 to iPhone 12 and Verizon said it was not compatible.

They did take care of it at the Verizon corporate store in about 5-10 minutes.

Very easy. You could call them but be prepared to wait for an extended time. Just go to the Verizon store.

A different set of experiences here. I've purchased several phones over the last 5-6 years and transferred the SIM card from the old to the new. You didn't say what the older phone was, only the new phone. That might make a difference.

Also, if the old phone is still functional, Verizon has some tools to transfer data from the old phone to the new.

I'm going from a Pixel XL (2017 version) to a Pixel 5a.

Just swap the sims a go. I have never had to go to the store with a unlocked phone unless they have different size sims. This is with Verizon though.
