Tivo Embraces Broadband Video
Will let users download Internet content
Today, DVR manufacturer Tivo unveiled their new strategy for allowing DVR owners to download and play Internet broadband content. The functionality will be offered to users by the end of the year via a software update. "This new software, TiVo Desktop Plus 2.4, will support video content downloaded to PCs running Windows XP in formats such as QuickTime, Windows Media Video, and MPEG-4," says the company's press release. TiVo Desktop Plus 2.4 will cost you a one-time hit of $24.95. However, for subscribers that purchased version 2.3, it will simply be an upgrade. PVRWire has additional details.

I'll keep my modded xbox

I've been doing this with my modded xbox for quite awhile but it's a nice added touch for those who are not so lucky

I still will never buy a tivo because I don't see why I should spend so much money for the device and then have to pay monthly for it!
