Comcast Buys Dreamworks Animation For $3.8 Billion
Regulators have formally signed off on Comcast's latest acquisition: the $3.8 billion addition of Dreamworks Animation. "The studio will become part of the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, which includes Universal Pictures, Fandango, and NBCUniversal Brand Development," Comcast says in an announcement of the finalized deal, which was first proposed roughly four months ago. DreamWorks was first launched in 1994 as a collaboration between Steven Spielberg, former Walt Disney Studios chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg, and music industry executive David Geffen. Jeff Shell, chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, will take over leadership of the acquired company.

And the plot thickens...

So is Comcast gonna control our entertainment now?

I would not be surprised if they were to buy a TV company and make encrypted TV sets next.

Still positioning themselves for more power

Take a guess at what ISP will have sole rights to put Dreamworks Animations on demand for only their customers?

Great move for Comcast.
