Comcast users say the company is notifying them of yet another round of rate hikes. According to users in our Comcast forum, the company is sending users a notice in their latest bill informing them of a wide variety of price hikes for broadband and TV services starting with the July 1 bill. These hikes, which started in January for some, slowly appear to be winding their way to all markets.
The hikes include a $3 hike on broadband, a $2 hike on the cost to rent an HD DVR, and a several dollar hike on the company's "Broadcast TV" fee, which lets the cable operator
jack up service costs while leaving advertised rates the same.
"At Comcast we are committed to constantly improving your entertainment and communications experience," the notice informs customers.
"Due to increases we incur in programming and other business costs, we periodically need to adjust our prices as we make these and other investments."
The image above is a notice from a Comcast customer in the Atlanta market, where Comcast is also experimenting with
usage caps and overage fees. It's worth noting that Comcast spent an estimated $336 million on its blocked attempt to acquire Time Warner Cable.
