T-Mobile today unveiled a new promotion that delivers free Netflix service to select customers. According to the T-Mobile announcement, T-Mobile ONE family plans will now come with Netflix -- at no extra charge. Again, you'll only get Netflix for free if you're signed up for the newer T-Mobile One plan (not any older family plan) -- and you need to pay for at least two lines of service. These plans offer "unlimited" voice, texting and data starting at $40 per line for a family of four.
T-Mobile states if users on these plans already have a Netflix subscription, T-Mobile will pick up the tab.
“While the carriers spend billions on their franken-strategies to cobble together carrier-cable-content mashups, the Un-carrier just leapfrogged them all by partnering with the best and giving it to customers at no extra charge," states T-Mobile. "Because that’s what we always do. Give more to you without asking more from you.”
T-Mobile again took the opportunity to criticize AT&T and Verizon, noting that both companies' network speeds dropped slightly after competition from T-Mobile forced them to bring back unlimited data plans.
"Since the carriers launched unlimited earlier this year, AT&T and Verizon customers have seen their network speeds plunge as their networks struggled to keep up with increased data and video usage," jabs T-Mobile. "Verizon recently reacted by capping ALL video speeds."
The promotion doesn't begin until Tuesday, September 12. The company's full announcement and the video below offer a litle more detail.
It's certainly a cool move from marketing prospective but it is definitely not an" uncarrier" move- it's the typical bundle. I could not care less about Netflix. And what about single people? I am perfectly fine with my 55+ plan without Netflix but t Mobile has to start catering to 55 minus singles because they have been really short changed lately.
