T-Mobile's new "T-Mobile Tuesdays" customer reward program is so popular, the company's servers continue to struggle with demand. As part of the new program, which we detailed earlier this month, T-Mobile's postpaid wireless subscribers were supposed to get a rotating variety of perks, including free pizza, a small Wendy’s Frosty, and a VUDU movie rental every Tuesday. The company also stated it would be throwing in a number of one-off other freebies every week, including free movie tickets to see "Warcraft."
But T-Mobile's effort has seen a few hiccups each Tuesday since the promotion was launched.
On the first Tuesday, the company's servers buckled under the load, resulting in many users being unable to use the app. Each Tuesday since, customers have similarly complained that T-Mobile's app either doesn't load at all, or suffers consistent timeouts. As a result, complaints abound in the Apple and Google app stores from users who say they can't get the app to work, much less get any rewards from the "uncarrier."
Even with most users restricted by congested servers, Dominos had to exit the promotion after it couldn't handle demand, either.
Yesterday problems bubbled up yet again, resulting in some websites suggesting that T-Mobile might want to shutter the promotion -- at least until it can get it to actually work. T-Mobile CEO John Legere didn't take kindly to the suggestion, arguing that even with the problems, T-Mobile's latest customer appreciation effort has been a notable success.
