Time Warner Cable Sued For Robocalling Wrong Woman...153 Times

According to surveys and studies, Time Warner Cable has the worst customer satisfaction ratings of any company in any U.S. industry, and the cable operator is once again showing why that reputation is well-deserved. The company is facing a new lawsuit after it robocalled one woman 153 times regarding an overdue balance on her account. The problem? Time Warner Cable was calling the wrong woman.

Not only that, the company somehow continued to robocall the same woman 74 more times despite the lawsuit:
quote:
He also said 74 of the calls had been placed after King sued in March 2014, and that it was "incredible" to believe Time Warner Cable when it said it still did not know she objected. "Defendant harassed plaintiff with robo-calls until she had to resort to a lawsuit to make the calls stop, and even then TWC could not be bothered to update the information in its IVR system," Hellerstein wrote.
Time Warner Cable's uncanny skill at not operating as a coherent, capable company is a major reason why it's ranked so poorly in studies, be they from Consumer Reports, the ACSI, or JD Power and Associates. In this instance, the cable operator is being asked to pay $229,500 for violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Sounds like they lost already. TW owes $229k..

Upon reading the link, indicates that a Federal district judge decided this with a summary judgement for $229.5K.

I.E. TW owes the plaintiff $$$. Their defense depended on a legal exemption that the judge cast aside, thus their was no issue left to decide with a trial. Hopefully this will be lesson for these companies. Even the fair credit reporting act requires debt collectors to stop contacting you've once notified them of a dispute.

I stopped answering calls from people I don't know, or can't ID'd with a quick internet search. One handy hint, if the prefix code (After the area code) starts with a 0 or 1, it's an invalid number, don't answer, its just a scammer spoofing a fake caller id.

What do the executives think?

I honestly wish to know what the executives of Time Warner say about such things?

Do they simply dont care that their company is regarded as having the worst customer satisfaction or do they gasp in disbelief because up there in management you dont really get to see the atrocities that your earthly employees commit?

Never understood why they call anyway, just disconnect people that don't pay

With the way things are setup these days it's certainly easy just to send disconnect notices via the mail and disconnect people when they get past due. I highly doubt calling people about paying their TV bill really motivates them to like you as a company, especially considering how crazy TV bills are already getting.

Calling people is not only annoying to your customers, costs money, but opens you up to potential lawsuits over the host of laws governing telephone calls. Comcast is just as guilty since I've personally been harassed by them, luckily they stopped once I explained the final points of the FDCPA to them. Sad part is the damn thing was their fault since their wonderful auto pay system never worked...

How about ..
