Fallen 6. TORTURE! How much pain can you stand? :P This is next to the last of the bloody Fallen series, in fact this IS the last of the blood, the next one will very much reflect the first of this series and then I'm moving back to the more pleasant viewing side of photography and art. Thanks for looking and hanging with me through this gruesome series.

I don't get it... I guess I am the only one. I have some "gruesome" pictures I could show here but I bet they wouldn't get the same reaction. Do we like this because of the artistic value? Is it the prettyness? Is it the photographer? I wish I knew... sorry.

WasntMe, I don't know dude, you'll have to ask the others what they like or dislike about it, maybe start a thread about it? I only post it because it is a form of art that people don't see much, and to my knowledge has never been posted here on this site before. If you look around at online gallery's you can find a great deal of art such as this. Myself I think there is a big difference though in gruesome pictures and what may be referred to as gruesome art. Two totally different things, I too have a bunch of gruesome pictures of animals as well as people and most anything else you can think of, but they are in no way related to art. That said, a fake image such as this one of a guy stabbing a fork into his arm if properly done in my opinion is a form of art, possibly not as tasteful as some would like, but art nevertheless. There are people who inflict pain on themselves like this everyday. Something such as a gutted deer on the other hand is only a gruesome picture IMO.

This guy needs to stop forking around and get serious. :-)

I guess to each his own...
A hunter may think a gutted dear is art. PS... not bashing you. :)

Very fake. The blood is not overlapping onto the tool he is using.

I understand, not bashing you either, and you could be right about the hunter, it's all new frontier in many ways. I suppose it does depend on the individual. I really do think it would make for a good discussion though.

Stooges Fan, look closely at the guy in the pic, he has forkin had it. LOL!

Okay, do you mind a serious critique? Well, to me this isn't as powerful as you other images, it just doesn't appear very realistic. Nope, I don't think it need more blood, but it just appears to be too clean. However, I must say I like your thought process behind the series and applaud you for your courage. ;o)

Thank you JRSlater, thank you ALL in fact. :) Serious critiques are what I want, and I appreciate yours. This whole series obviously is new territory for me, landscapes seem to come more natural for me but this was just something I wanted to try my hand at, and since it had never been done here that I know of I wanted to giver a whirl. I really do appreciate all the comments, bad as well as good, how else is one to improve on their work? It would be interesting to see how others could produce such images, believe be it's a lot harder than it looks, and definitely is not my specialty but it was a lot of fun trying.

I disagree with JRSlater and feel that this is the most realistic one of the series. The blood is more the color I visualize it should be, the cut looks more natural. The only part that I see is a little not so real is the too perfect lymph leakage around the cut.

This one from the archives is in a similar vein (oh my, no pun intended) »/showp ··· 8854&p=2.

Personally, I dislike this type of stuff. It only comes-off as fake to me for some reason. There are others that have posted blood-stained knuckles and stuff like that which to me screams wanna-be hard man. I don't think that's the case here. I think perhaps the image is lacking context. If the person was shown in a setting that somehow provided a background as to why they are inflicting pain I think it would be a big improvement.

I feel a little empty on this one. The fork is plastic and it's obvious. Now if you had used a metal fork, this would have been more believable. The slit wrist evoked more of an emotional response than this one.

I respect much of your work, but think this is one of you lesser efforts.

hey mods · » Tuesday September 26th, @11:03PM

Pretorious
LOL well you must admit this series has sure stirred up the stink. :P

Actually rockhounds_5 the fork is real, nothing plastic about it, the blood is real too as was mistaken in an earlier post by another member. I used a dremel tool to cut off the forks teeth (or what ever they are called) so my assistant could push it into the skin tightly without any pain or injury and to also give it the appearance of deep penetration. So you are dead wrong on your assumption. It just goes to show that what you see is not always what you think you see.

For those in doubt, even though this may not be your game, you should give this a try sometime and see how terribly hard it is to make such scenes look authentic, I bet you will spend more time getting it to look right than you might think. ;)

I like it, and pretty obvious it's a real fork... interesting photos Pretorious. What inspired you to do these?

Several things really, I ran onto a website several years ago that was nothing but this type of stuff. Never could remember the URL to it but I do remember it was very entertaining to view, even though a little upsetting and disturbing to some degree. So recently I wanted to try something like it and realized that as far as I knew it had never been presented here in such a form, thus the more erged to try it. I don't think I failed miserably but I can tell you I've found out it's not my line. :)

The fork is plastic and cut off towards the base. By the blood pattern and the thinness of the blood, its only Karo syrup and red die.

Good attempt on your part, but do a little more research on human anatomy and how blood really looks.

Let me recant..thats a cut off metal fork.
