If you're just playing, you've got one heck of a camera for it. If I wasn't already pretty far down the Canon rabbit hole, that's the camera I'd get. You're doing fine with the DOF, but the pic is really busy. I'd only keep the top two thirds of the shot, which gets rid of most of the foreground clutter. That's my 2 cents anyway.
