 | Ha ha!
That's cool, although I hope the smell of your shoes don't mutate the babies into some horrible man eating avians.

 | Wow jmikeh, that is pretty cool. I've never heard of a bird nesting in a shoe before. How quickly was the nest built?
You are correct that this is a wren, but it is actually a Carolina Wren. Great image...thanks a bunch for sharing! Please keep us updated.hey mods · » Wednesday May 12th, @07:42PM

 | I thought is was a Carolina but wasn't sure. Thanks for the clarification.
What happened is when I finish mowing I put my shoes up on this plastic pot right by my backdoor on the side of my grill. The nest was built a few days after I set the shoes there. During the week, I am guessing, the nest was built.
I noticed the mess in the right shoe and thought my daughter was pulling a prank. Then I looked closer at the left shoe and saw 4 white eggs with brownish spots on them. This was about 3 weeks ago. The birds have hatched and are getting fed regularly. They are still pretty small.hey mods · » Thursday May 13th, @12:58PM

 | Sadly, this morning I found all 4 chicks dead on the ground. I was afraid that might happen. The nest was built above a deck. I was worried about them leaving the nest. I thought about moving it but figured I better leave it alone.
I was out of town this weekend or I may have been able to keep an eye on the chicks' progress.hey mods · » Monday May 17th, @09:53AM
